Les journées PFC printemps 2012 seront intégrées dans le colloque international

‘Du français et de l’anglais aux langues du monde : variation, structure et théorie du langage’

et se tiendront à l’Université Paul Valéry Montpellier III

les 28-30 juin 2012.

Les communications du colloque seront ventilées dans trois axes ou ateliers dont les séances seront en parallèle : ‘Phonologie du français contemporain’, ‘Phonologie de l’anglais contemporain’ et ‘De la morphologie au discours’. Il y aura en plus des communications transversales autour de questions méthodologiques et épistémologiques.

Nous prévoyons l’organisation suivante :

Jeudi 28 juin et vendredi 29 juin : 3 ateliers en parallèle + communications transversales

Samedi 30 juin : organisation de communications transversales à Caux et visite de Pézenas (un bus quittera Montpellier à 10h du matin. Retour sur Montpellier à 18h).

Nous organiserons également un dîner le 29 juin.

Aucun frais d’inscription ne vous sera demandé, mais nous n’assurons aucune prise en charge.

How to get to Montpellier

Flights from abroad

There are international flights to the Paris airports, notably Charles de Gaulle.

For British visitors, Ryan Air fly direct from Stansted to Montpellier, from Leeds to Montpellier (during the summer months), and from Liverpool to Nimes, which is just north of Montpellier. There is a train link from Nimes to Montpellier. There is now a low-cost flight from Bristol to Béziers (just south of Montpellier)

There are also flights from various countries to Bordeaux, Toulouse, Marseille and Nice, all connected to Montpellier by train.

Travelling by train within France

From Paris:

There is a high speed train service (the TGV) which leaves from the Gare de Lyon, but also from the Charles de Gaulle airport: this is TGV which comes from Lille, in the north of France. The shortest journey time from Paris to Montpellier via TGV is 3 and a quarter hours. Other trains take 3 and a half hours, or more.

Average journey times:

From Nice: around 4 and a half hours

From Marseille: around 1 and a half hours

From Bordeaux: around 4 – 5 hours.

From Toulouse: around 2 and a half hours

Booking train tickets

Reservations are obligatory on all the TGV. Reservations close half an hour before departure time. If you google ‘SNCF’, you could try to make a booking on-line. If you use a credit card, you can retrieve your tickets from a machine in a train station, using a code number issued to you on line, and your credit card. Otherwise, you should book at the station when you arrive.

Travelling by car within France

From Paris: There is a motorway link (the A9) from Paris to Montpellier.

From Nice, Marseille, Bordeaux: there are also motorway links.

There are tolls on all these motorways.

For a toll-free motorway from Paris, travel via Clermont-Ferrand and see the magnificent Millau bridge (designed by a Brit!)

The A9 motorway also connects with Spain, so it is possible to fly to Barcelona and hire a car from there. Journey time by car, Barcelona to Montpellier: around 4 and a half hours, depending on traffic.

How to get to the St Charles site (just off the Place Albert Premier)

From town: take the tram (line 1: the blue line), direction Mosson. Get off at the Albert 1er stop. The pedestrian entrance to St Charles is right next to the tram stop. If you have a car, you won’t be able to get into the St Charles car park.

You can get to St Charles on foot from the centre of town.

Accommodation

The university has a reduced rate agreement with Citadines Antigones . These are small studio flats. Near St Charles, there’s an inexpensive hotel called Les Fauvettes. Not luxurious, but ok, as I recall. Check out Montpellier hotels on the net, and book now!
